Imaging Feedback

Ablation procedures can be performed at open surgery, at laparoscopy or percutaneously. Direct visualization of the ablation zone is not always feasible, espeically with a percutaneous approach, so medical imaging such as ultrasound, CT and MRI are typically used to guide applicator placement, monitor the treatment, and follow-up after the treatment. We have several projects aimed at developing imaging techniques specific to thermal ablation monitoring. Some of these projects are collaborative with other researchers in Medical Physics and BME.
